It was a great weekend for the Harris County Wrestling family. We came together and put on excellent tournament in the face of adversity. Overall, the team placed 3rd at our own tournament, which makes the results that much better. Orry Suich and Tyler DeNova placed first with Andrew Kessler placing second. Chris Drake, Josh Grant, and Alex Torres all fought back and placed 3rd.

We wrestled well enough on Friday, qualifying all wrestlers to wrestle in day 2 of the tournament. We ended up in a situation in which to win the tournament, we needed to have 3 of the 5 guys in the wrestle backs to place 3rd or 4th. We only had one. To win tournaments as a team, we need to have at least 7 placers, and those that do not place win at least two matches. What we encountered Saturday will be similar to the city tournament. We need to step up our game. Overall as a team, we are still executing many of the basic moves wrong. On our feet, we need to have circular motion. We need to move our opponent, and when we shoot, we need to lower our level first. Once on the mat, we need to get off our knees. We are not putting any pressure on the bottom guy, which makes it easier for them to get up. On bottom, we need to be quick and have hand control the whole time. If we execute the basics, we place in tournaments.
